BACKGROUND

How it began:

"I received a private call from a friend who desperately wanted to evacuate a friend with two small children from Kyiv. That's how the ball started rolling and the more I looked into the matter and tried to help him, the clearer the great need for help for this form of support became." (Adrian)

"When we started, it was no longer possible to get out of Kyiv and into safety anymore. I heard that security companies are now taking people out of the city for €3,000 and upwards; the fact that only the strongest and richest can now make it out of Kyiv moved me to turn this logic around: To help those who can least help themselves. Since security companies were also no longer entering Kyiv, we simply took matters into our own hands." (Janine)
